Review: Marked

Title: Marked
Author: P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: May 1, 2007
Book: Bought

The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire -- that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

Many readers come to the idea that this book is some what like Twilight. However, its not. This book is based on a school that is a sanctuary for kids who are marked.

Zoey is an average girl, I would say. One she has the football star player as a boyfriend. She has the best friend that she tells everything too. Also she has school tests which she hates with a passion. Normal girl! However, everything is about to change when she all of a sudden gets marked. Things go down hill from there, and the only person who treats with any signs of normal is her grandmother.

Zoey's grandmother would be someone that I would love to have as a grandmother. She is an independent lady that I could tell everything to her. I just love her. The mom on the other hand, I want to do things to that lady that one should not do. She is rude, incoherent to the things that are happening around her, and she is not what I would consider a true mother.

Overall I thought this book was an okay read. If your into the whole Twilight, Vampires going to school, come check out this book.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: The Word Gang

Title: The Word Gang
Author: Mark McKenna
Publisher: Precipitation Press
Release Date: December 8, 2010
Book: Given by Author

"The Word Gang" is the story of three kids in school who start using 'big' words to be disruptive. It is also the story of the transformational friendship between a troubled young girl, Kalisha Jackson, and a lonely old polyglot, Albrecht Spinoza.

This book was a book I enjoyed reading. For a while, I haven't had the chance to real a book about what kids in some places are experiencing. This book was a real eye-opener to me. The idea that all the characters were different when coming from a wide perspective and having their own problems to deal with. However, taking the chance really showed that these children wanted nothing more than to have a life worth living for.

I loved how the characters used words to stand up for themselves in class when the teacher just wanted to the fail because of the mind set that he had of the children. Thinking that these children will never be fully accomplished in life but than experiencing first hand in a classroom is one thing. The teacher just didn't take the initiative to explore these children's minds and find out how wonderful they really are.

Mr. McKenna created a book that will open most peoples eyes to what is really happening today in our children's schools. So if you want to pick up an excellent read, check this book out.

I give this book 5 souls!

Review: Fat Vampire

Title: Fat Vampire
Author: Adam Rex
Publisher: Blazer and Bray
Release Date: August 1, 2010
Book: Borrowed

Doug "Meatball" Lee is no Edward, he's just a 15-year-old dork trying to land a date with a real live girl, any girl. But when you're a weight-challenged, newbie vampire, finding a Bella to call your very own presents some real challenges.

Okay well to start this off, the title was the first thing to get my attention. Come on! Has anyone ever heard of a fat vampire before. Because I hadn't.Second was the cover itself. It just made me laugh. I have never seen a blood smoothie.

Through this book is the story of how a vampire struggles to fit in because of one thing...his weight. Many people have problems like this and they face struggles through their life that can push them away from doing things that other people are more capable of doing. For example: his feeding.

The help that he was able to get with his mentor was a moment that help him become a better vampire. However, in becoming a more evolved vampire his mind got to the better of him and he became bad. I lost my respect for him when he decided to get a girl and treat with the disrespect that he presented to her. Although he did lose my respect I do believe in second chances. In the end he went after to his friends attacker and I saw him as a hero.

The idea that this book was written in a male point of view and also by a male author. I am truly honored to have read this book. I recommend that all people read this book.

I give this book 5 souls!

Review: Vampire Crush

Title: Vampire Crush
Author: A.M. Robison
Publisher: Harper Teen
Release Date: December 28, 2010
Book: Borrowed

I swear, my life was always totally normal.
Normal house, normal family, normal school. My looks are average, I don't have any superpowers, no one's showing up to tell me I'm a princess—you get the picture. But when my junior year started, something not normal happened. There were new kids at school . . . new kids with a wardrobe straight out of a 19th-century romance novel, and an inexplicable desire to stay at school until sundown.
And on top of that, James Hallowell showed up. James, who stole my sandwiches in fourth grade and teased me mercilessly through middle school. James, who now seems to have the power to make my heart race any time he comes near.
But something weird is going on. Because James rarely goes out during the day. And he seems stronger than your typical guy. And he knows the new kids, all of whom seem to be harboring some kind of deep secret. . . .

A secret! A secret that seems that all strange especially  when six new kids come to school dressed in clothes of 19th century wardrobe. What truths lie underneath the lies of these students and will Sophie figure it out. Or will her reporting skills be tested to her limit.
Sophie is a strong, hard hitting girl that knows what she wants and will go at everything to get it. However, like a journalist, she always finds herself in trouble when digging for information.
The love connection that Sophie and her elementary bully face is a connection that I thought was cute. James is the type of guy that holds secrets and will go out of his way to protect Sophie even if it means putting his life on the line.
Overall this book was a good read and I came to enjoy it when reading it. I ask all people to explore what it means to be a true journalist and the dangers that follow through out this book.
I give this book 5 souls!

Review: The Lost Hero

Title: The Lost Hero
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Hyperion Books
Release Date: October 12, 2010
Book: Bought

Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.

Leo has a way with tools. When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god.

Demigods! Children of the Gods. Kids of our future. Saviors of our world. All else couldn't be more awesome until you wake up on a bus with no recollection of how you got there and that you have a girlfriend. All things are fun and games until you lose your memory.

I am happy to read a continuing story of the famous Demigods of the world and how once again they must save the world from an evil curse. However, this time Percy Jackson is not there to save the day. In fact, no one knows where he is. He has just vanished.

I loved how this series was able to continue off a few years later from Percy and the Olympians series but with a whole new set of characters. The story is kinda the same with it being a different thing that the selected Demigods must stop.

Overall, this book was a wonderful continuing to the Percy Jackson series. I loved it and I can't wait to read the sequel to this wonderful series. I ask that all readers check out this book and you will come to love it like I have.

I give this book 4 souls!

Book: Sent by Author

When Claire Miller turned eighteen all she wanted to do was celebrate her birthday, but after a night on the town with her best friend she awakes to a visitor she never expected. The rulers of her region, a vampire royal family, have chosen her to be turned as their new heir and vampire princess. In a world fueled by the power of blood, Claire quickly discovers the vampire royal family is not what they seem and that she has secrets in her past, she never knew existed.

To have the chance to become immortal. To live among a royal family of your world. All that sounds great but to get that what one must become to ever dream of that . One Word. Vampire!

I haven't read a vampire book in a while since Twilight so I decided to dive into a book about one or a couple I should say. And I knew I made the right choice after I had finished the first couple chapters. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book but I had a feeling it would be good.

I didn't like how the mom was just willing to give up her daughter like that. Yeah I know not many parents can say that their daughter is going to become a princess and soon queen. However, just the idea of her mother never seeing her daughter again. Also I found it hard to read when she was saying bye to her  best friend. Now, I am sorry moms but saying bye to your BFF is so hard. I can't imagine knowing what that would feel like.

So overall this vampire book was a really good read and I ask all readers to take the time to read this book. I enjoyed it and I know you will too.

Review: The Last Olympian

Title: The Last Olympian
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney Book Group
Release Date: May 5, 2009
Book: Bought

Climactic battles rage on New York streets in the final book of Rick Riordan's large-scale Olympian series. As Kronos' massive offensive moves towards its ultimate goal, Percy Jackson struggles to comprehend the full meaning of a long-
awaited prophecy.

In the last installment of the Percy Jackson series, Rick Riordan had created a work that will be left unforgotten. The idea that was put into this book about showing the lives of Demigods and the battles and struggles that they must overcome to protect the one's that they love. I literally locked myself in my room and wouldn't come out until I had the finished. Yeah, I got my parents mad but after I was done, I knew it was worth it.

Kronos, the all mighty, powerful titan that has unleashed his wrath as fights take place in New York. Who would you expect to save the day, Percy. Yes! Percy is once the again to become the main hero in this book that turned into a children's masterpiece. At first I thought he was going to lose but that idea left me when I realized that this was the last book in the series.

The whole idea of never giving up and risking your life to save the lives of others was an idea I have read over and over again. Book after Book! However, the way it was presented in this book was far more interesting than in any other book, that I have read. As that being said I tip my book (currently in hand) to Mr. Riordan.

Although I will be sad to see that series has come to an end. I am more than positive that Mr. Riordan has something up his sleeve to write yet another fascinating story involving the Demigods. I ask that all reader check out this book and if not this series. I am glad to have the chance to read this book and I am glad to have it on my book shelve.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: The Battle of the Labyrinth

Title: The Battle of the Labyrinth
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Hyperion
Release Date: May 6, 2008
Book: Bought

Percy Jackson's fourth summer at Camp Half-Blood is much like his previous three—high-octane clashes with dark forces, laced with hip humor and drama. Opening with a line for the ages—The last thing I wanted to do on my summer break was blow up another school—this penultimate series installment finds Percy, Annabeth and the satyr Grover furiously working to prevent former camp counselor Luke from resurrecting the Titan lord Kronos, whose goal is to overthrow the gods. When the heroes learn that Luke can breach Camp Half-Blood's security through an exit from Daedalus's Labyrinth, they enter the maze in search of the inventor and a way to stop the invasion. Along the way they encounter a lifetime supply of nightmare-inducing, richly imagined monsters. Grover's own quest to find the lost god Pan, meanwhile, provides a subtle environmental message. Percy, nearly 15, has girl trouble, having become something of a chick magnet. One of Riordan's strengths is the wry interplay between the real and the surreal. When the heroes find Hephaestus, for instance, he's repairing a Toyota, wearing overalls with his name embroidered over the chest pocket. The wit, rousing swordplay and breakneck pace will once again keep kids hooked.

The fourth installment of Percy Jackson's wonderous adventure takes place once again withg Percy stoppin Luke's plans once again. However, this time it involves stopping a Titan from arsining and roaming the Earth and causing terror beyond imagination.

Once again this book did not dissapoint me at all. I was on my toes all throughout the book wondering what might happened when I turned the page. Was it something good or bad?

The plot was very easy to follow and I was not once left wondering the main idea behind the story was. The idea that Grover gets to go on a journey himself to go find Pan, was very exciting for me. Grover is one of my favorite characters and knowing that hopefully something good will come out of this journey makes me even more happy for him.

Overall this book proved very exciting and I am glad that I took the time to read it. I ask that all readers to check out this book and this series. I have come to enjoy it and I think you will too.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: The Titan's Curse

Title: The Titan's Curse
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Miramax and Hyperion
Release Date: May 5, 2007
Book: Bought

It charts the adventures of the fourteen-year-old demigod Percy Jackson as he and his friends go on a dangerous quest to rescue his friend Annabeth Chase and the Greek goddess Artemis, who have both been kidnapped. Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the Titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared -- a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.

This series has never once left me not wanting more. I have always enjoyed traveling into book and standing alongside Percy has he travels to stop yet another plan of Luke. However, this time Percy must set out to rescue not only Annabeth but the Greek God, Artemis. What troubles will Percy face when rescuing his friends.

The plot came to me very easily and I really enjoyed that. Although this book still kept me guessing about what I thought would happen next. With books, I love when the plot comes to me clearly but I don't like a book that gives it all away. And this book didn't.

Thank you!!!  I was waiting to see when you would finally bring in a Titan. I am all for the good guys but I am sorry to say (not really) that I have been dying to see when he would put an all powerful titan into the series. Yes I know they have bad written all over them, but still amazing.

This book contains action, adventure, love, peril, and everything a reader should have when reading this book. I ask all readers to check out this book, and if not this series.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Indiana Fire

Title: Indiana Fire
Author: Neisa Hutson
Publisher:
Release Date: December 10, 2011
Book: Book Tour

Christine-
Everyday you look over your shoulder. Every night you lock the door and lay the gun next to your head. Every touch, every breath, and every scar could mean death. Every day you live in the fear of the Blayz...This is my world as I hide inside the walls, but even here the disease rages on killing us off one by one. The world outside seems so cruel now compared to the one I live in, but good things don't last forever. I hide in fear of the disease, the Black Fire. The burning causes your mind to go insane, then your skin turns black as ashes decaying by the second, and third you turn into a Flaym hoping wishing that someone would kill you, end the pain. I am locked away from this world, until I met the green skinned boy who promised safety within 'Alamo', a place deep within the West Virginia hills. Traveling is dangerous, and the state is far, my chances of making it there are little to none. I can only hope that I will find my place across the ocean. If only I could escape this world where the skin crawls, humans are scarce, and the Blayz fill the streets.

Alan-
A flash of movement and a screaming end to the Blayz that line the Florida shores. My days of killing are over as the government releases me from my duties. Along with my friend Broc, I travel North to a place once known as New York. I go there not only to flee from the disease, but I go there in hopes of finding my lost love. After years of pain, watching my own brother kill his daughter, and leaving my fiancée behind, I am ready to return to the sane. But even there within the walls there is not much comfort. A dead lover and no home. I find comfort in knowing a young man who loved a young girl, who had been long gone from the city. We find peace in an island off the east coast, and it is there that I learn that the Blayz aren't the only things we need to fear. Together we travel to a place called the Alamo. A deadly journey begins to a place known as Indiana where the disease began. This is a place where mutants roam and disease spreads consuming everything dead or alive in it's path.

Sadness and Terror. These words can best describe this book. These words can best describe the events taken place  though out this book. These words are the book.

When I dove into this book, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know what would be coming on the next page. I was on my toes wondering how these people survive. The book kind of reminded me of Resident Evil. How the United States is taken over by a disease and then burns you until your skin goes black and then turns you into the walking dead. It's called...CRAZY!!!!!

The thing I didn't like about this book was that every time someone fell in love. The person they fall in love with dies. With that being said, this just added to the many twists and turns this book had.

I liked how the characters POV's switched either when someone died or was about to die. We got to see what the world inside the book had become. With the many troubles that they faced through out this book made me seek shelter under the blankets.

Overall this book proved to be enjoyable and I ask all readers to give this book a chance. You may like it or it may not be for you. However, overall you did give this book a chance to embrace you with its words.

I give this book 4 souls!

I am Neisa Fluharty, and I currently live in West Virginia. I am 20 years young. I love Writing, Reading, Sketching, and much more. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere with my many dogs and family. I am soon to self-publish my first novel ever Indiana Fire! Besides writing I read avidly and I am always looking for new books to read!

1. Why did you become an author?

-I wanted to write a novel in hopes of someone else being inspired by it enough to want to be a writer too.
There's a peace that comes from writing, and in my opinion it is very relaxing. I have lately been drawn to fantasy, because when I write it, I pull myself away from this world. It's that moment in life, when I can forget everyone around me and let my imagination go wild. I've been a loner so to speak, and through high school I have to admit I was the shy one. That's why writing is more natural to me. If you sociable, writing can be hard, because it involves a lot of hours alone in your favorite spot with just you and your story. It one of my talents, so yes that's one of the reasons why I chose writing. Still, it is the most adventurous, and leaves you the kind of freedom that many jobs do not offer.

2. What inspired you to write this book?

-At the time, I had been reading books like The Forest of Hands and Teeth, and I had watched movies like Zombieland. My passion for zombies had grown along with my passion for Dystopia. I wanted something personal and something that could keep not only young girls attentions but young guys. I wanted something with action and pain. I wanted something not exactly simple, but an easy enough read for everyone to enjoy. I wanted to put out my hand in the Dystopian world. My fiance influenced and inspired my decision. He also writes, and I wanted to write something that we both could enjoy. I forced myself away from the chick lit, the fantasy, and romance. I found that I love this side of writing, this darker style is very addictive! I think most of all it wanted an orginal zombie story that had never been heard of before.

3. If you can have dinner with any character. Who would it be and why?

-It would probably be Cory, because I'd feel too guilty for what I did to Christine in the book. She'd probably want too hurt me, if she knew that I was the reason for what she went through. Cory though if one of my more favorite characters, and I think it would be interesting to see it from his point of view. For once I wouldn't be putting words in his mouth, literally.

4. What books do you look forward to reading in 2012?

-Most of them were written last year, and I just haven't gotten the time to read them. First, I'm going to finish the one book that I have been waiting so long to read, The Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. A book that is coming out that looks like a really good read is The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler. I started reading this amazing book last month, but unfortunately I got side tracked. Apparently, it is a series so I hope to read all of them! The book is Flying Blind by Deborah Cooke. Also I read about the Matched Trilogy, and I can't wait to read it. It was actually the second book, Crossed that sparked my interest. The book trailer was just amazing!
I also plan to read: Perfect by Ellen Hopkins, If I Stay and Where and She Went by Gayle Forman, Awake at Dawn by C.C. Hunter, Season's of Grace series by Beverly Lewis, The Crossroad by Beverly Lewis, and Allegiance by Cayla Kluver looks like a great read.

5. What would you do if you lived in the same world as your book?

-I would probably hop onto the first boat to England. Most people don't survive my world.

I would like to thank Neisa Hutson for taking place in this awesome interview. I wish her the very best with her book and future writings. If you would like to purchase this book there will be a link at the bottom of this paragraph. Also, for those who want to enter and have a chance to win a E-Copy of this book scroll down to the bottom and enter. I wish you the best of luck. Have a great day!

Review: The Sea of Monsters

Title: The Sea of Monsters
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Miramax
Release Date: April 1st, 2006
Book: Bought

After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson is finding his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson, a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any normal friends. But things don't stay quiet for long.

Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders that protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and the only safe haven for demigods is on the verge of being overrun by mythological monsters. To save the camp, Percy needs the help of his best friend, Grover, who has been taken prisoner on an island somewhere in the Sea of Monsters, the dangerous waters Greek heroes have sailed for millennia. Only today, the Sea of Monsters goes by a new name: The Bermuda Triangle.

Together with his friends, Percy must retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Island of the Cyclopes or Camp Half-Blood will be destroyed. But first, Percy will learn a stunning new secret about his family, one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.

Percy Jackson is back in yet another book of the Olympians. However, this time, Camp Half-Blood demigods are in danger and Percy is the only one who can save the camp. But Percy must also save his best friend from the Bermuda Triangle, otherwise known as the Sea of Monsters.

I love when books like these take you on an adventure. An adventure that drags you through the pages and into the world of the characters. I was able to feel the pressure that Percy had to go through when rescuing Grover and also obtaining the Golden Fleece. A book is only as good as the pull it has on the reader.

I once again loved the characters, and once again Grover is proves to be a comical character. He gets stuck in a sticky situation throughout this book, and Percy has to swoop in to save the day.

This book is filled with action, adventure, and all things a book must have. I recommend this book to all readers. So go check it out when you have chance.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Angelfall

Title: Angelfall
Author: Susan Ee
Publisher: Feral Dream
Release Date: May 21, 2011
Book: Bought

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Wow!!!! Words are can't really express what I feel for this book. However, one word can. Amazing. I was on my toes from the very beginning to the very end of the book. I know I have reviewed  a lot of angel books lately but  this book is on a whole other level compared to the other books.

The characters were amazing. The thing I loved was the love the characters had for each other but how they didn't show it. With one being human and another angel, they are not permitted to fall for each other. I personally think that that's a stupid rule, but a rule is a rule.

This book turned me into an emotional wreck after I finished. The tears, the hurt, the anger. A book has to be really well written to cause to experience these emotions. With that being said I am telling all readers that this is a must read. If your reading a book, put it down and go buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

I give this book 5 souls!

Even more stunning: His father is the Greek god Poseidon, ruler of the sea, making Percy one of the most powerful demigods alive. There's little time to process this news. All too soon, a cryptic prophecy from the Oracle sends Percy on his first quest, a mission to the Underworld to prevent a war among the gods of Olympus.

I love the idea of the Greek Gods especially when they are written for teens. However, we didn't focus on the Gods but their children. The Demigods. As I read this book, I traveled alongside Percy and his friends as they uncover the truth and find the true thief of the lightning bolt.

What I didn't like about this book was that finding out that when the Gods have their children they couldn't see them anymore. Really? Talk about abandonment. Like I understand that they were neglecting their duties as Gods when they were on Earth but still. They should be able to see their children every once in a while.

The characters were great, I really loved Grover with his comedian moments. This throughout the book proved to be the "funny moments" of the book. Yeah the other two characters were okay but sorry I have favorite for Grover.

Overall this book proved to exciting with all the twists and turns throughout this book. So if you want a book that has adventure, action. A taking risk book.  Well than you should check out this book.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Seeds of Discovery

Title: Seeds of Discovery
Author: Breeana Puttroff
Publisher: Musefish
Release Date: September 16, 2011
Book: Given to by Author

Quinn Robbins' life was everything she thought a teenager's should be. She has good friends, a family that she loves, good grades, and an after-school job she enjoys. And, she's just been asked out by Zander Cunningham, a popular football player and great guy. But one day when driving home after picking up her little sister from the baby-sitter's, she nearly hits a boy who, after running blindly into the street, mysteriously disappears.
The mystery only deepens as she figures out who the boy is; William Rose, a reclusive, awkward boy from school who always has his nose in a pile of books.
As she becomes more aware of his behavior it becomes more obvious how out of the ordinary William is and how hard he deliberately tries to blend into the background. This only intrigues her more and she finds herself working to find out more about him, and exactly where he keeps disappearing to.

On a whim one night she follows him and suddenly finds herself in a new world. One where William is a prince, literally, and she is treated like a princess. She also discovers that she is stuck; the gate back to her own world isn't always open.

Quinn finds herself smack in the middle of a modern-day fairy tale, on a course that will change her life forever.

I was always told never to follow people when I was little, and I was still told that when I started high school. Even if I knew this person, never follow them if you didn't know where they were going. However for Quinn, that's the last thing she does when she follows Will, a boy that always quiet but who lives in a place unimaginable.

I wasn't expecting the story to unfold as it did. I was expecting to be like a modern world where a kid is under the influence and the girl is going to swoop down and stop him from doing something bad. However, I was wrong. This book turned out to be a magical adventure that one girl took when following someone across a lake into another world.

The characters I liked especially when each character had there own strength at something.  It showed that everyone may not be good at everything but a person can have a strength in something that they love.

Throughout this book there were times of sadness, serious tones, but also comical scenes. This book was truly magical and I recommend that people come read this book and travel across the lake into another world.

I give this book 4 souls!

1. What was your inspiration for your book?

A couple of summers ago, my dad, my daughter and I went for a picnic/day hike in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Near where we were playing in the river there was this old, concrete bridge that was completely broken except for the crumbling foundation on one side, and some leftover indentations from the other end of the bridge in the cliff on the opposite side of the river.  That day, I knew there was a story in it, although much of the rest of it didn't start forming for several months.

2. If you could have dinner with one of the characters who would it be and why?

I would love to have dinner with Nathaniel. He's one of the quieter characters in the story (at least at this point in it), but his back-story is interesting, and I think he would have a lot to say. Besides, he's a sweet, intelligent, family-oriented doctor who also happens to be the only eligible guy in the book who is anywhere near my age. ;)

3. Do you see yourself as being one of the characters in the book? If yes, why?

I don't see myself as being one of the characters in the book.  I'm sure that parts of me are in each of them somewhere, in reactions or choices, but sadly, most of them are more interesting than I am. :)

4. Why did you want to be an author?

I didn't necessarily want to be an author. I wanted to write stories, which is something I started doing at a crazy young age. Now that I "wrote a book" my grandmother keeps digging through her basement and finding long beginnings to novels that I started writing when I was eight or nine. Until I actually put Seeds of Discovery in front of an audience, I mostly lived in fear that anyone older than my students would read anything I wrote. I actually shared the rough drafts with my students before anyone else. Now that I've written two books, and am about to publish the second one, I'm discovering that, paid or unpaid, writing and sharing stories with people is mostly fun, and I'd like to keep doing it.

5. What books do you look forward to reading in 2012?

I'm very grateful these days that my Kindle keeps my TBR pile from looking like it belongs on Hoarders. But some of the ones at the top are the Clockwork series, Matched by Allie Condie, and The Daddy Pact by Kristy K. James.  There are always lots of children's books in the stack, too. My daughter is getting old enough now that I'm looking forward to sharing more of Patricia Polacco's books with her, and we might even start Charlotte's Web soon.  I'm big on re-reading my favorites, too.

I would like to thank the author once again for letting me have the chance to review this wonderful book.
