Review: Fallen

Title: Fallen
Author: Lauren Kate
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Release Date: December 8, 2009
Book: Bought

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Fallen, a story of a fallen angel, I would have never guessed. With all these mixed review I have heard from other readers, and bloggers, I didn't know what to expect. However, everyone has their own opinion and so do. Let me tell you mine...I Loved It!!!!

This is not first or will be my last read of books on fallen angels. This book contained romance, action, adventure, and betrayals. And readers who plan to read this, the betrayals will come from the people that you least expect them to come from.

Luce was a great character, however the stalking at the beginning of the book kind of freaked me out but in the end I was rooting for her all the way. Daniel, it was common for him to come off as a jerk but deep down to all girls, you see him as a mysterious, sexy guy that you wouldn't be able to keep your eyes off of.

This book was an easy book for me to just let my soul go wild within its many pages. I recommend that all readers read this book and let your soul go wild.

I give this book 5 souls!

Okay...Before I go into the whole review thing, I have to point out that this book was the trippiest book that I have ever read. Like, it was so weird (can't think of a better word). However, the idea that this book was so weird made me like it even more. Scratch that...This is what me love the book even more.

I liked how you got to learn something about each of the teachers and students within a different chapter and each chapter continued flowing to keep me as the reader interested in every word that I was reading. Along with the idea that the school wasn't only monster children but also human children as well. The way they got along with each other was fascinating.

I had to admit the monster math lesson I have to agree with is my favorite chapter of all time. I would have been in trouble because knowing my personality, I have to make sure that it would be correct. However, to make sure nothing happened to me, I would agree.

This book was the funnest book I have had the pleasure reading and it was amazing how this book brought a different perspective of reading to me as a reader and blogger. I greatly advise all readers, bloggers, or whatever you may be to check this book out because you won't be disappointed one bit.

I give this book 5 souls!

Cover Reveal!!!!

Ten by: Gretchen McNeil

And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives – an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school's most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off the from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn't scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Review: Awakened

Title: Awakened
Author: P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: January 4, 2011
Book: Bought

Zoey has returned from the Otherworld to her rightful place as High Priestess at the House of Night. Her friends are just glad to have her back, but after losing her human consort, Heath, will Zoey--or her relationship with her super-hot Warrior, Stark--ever be the same?

Zoey is back. Stark is with Zoey. Rephaim has a nose. This book is confusing in so many ways. For me its like high school all over again with the drama of guys, and girls fighting over reasons one should not argue about. This is the one main reason why I hated high school. Drama!

Zoey...Zoey...Zoey... I don't understand how you just lost yourself because of a boy who died for you and than now you have completely forgotten him and now are with another guy.

The whole Neferet and Kalona thing is getting a little bit redundant. Also for a council that is supposed to be all wise and knowledgeable about the world. They really aren't. Maybe they need to get out just a little bit more. Just a suggestion.

This book went a little bit down for me compared to the last book, but like I said before I am not giving up hope on this series. I would still be cautious weather to recommend this book to young minors or not.

I give this book 4 souls!

*This book contains sex, profanity, ect.

Review: Ugly to Start With

Title: Ugly To Start With
Author: John Michael Cummings
Publisher: West Virgina University Press
Release Date: October 21, 2011
Book: Given to by Author

Jason Stevens is growing up in picturesque, historic Harpers Ferry, West Virginia in the 1970s. Back when the roads are smaller, the cars slower, the people more colorful, and Washington, D.C. is way across the mountains—a winding sixty-five miles away.

Jason dreams of going to art school in the city, but he must first survive his teenage years. He witnesses a street artist from Italy charm his mother from the backseat of the family car. He stands up to an abusive husband—and then feels sorry for the jerk. He puts up with his father’s hard-skulled backwoods ways, his grandfather’s showy younger wife, and the fist-throwing schoolmates and eccentric mountain characters that make up Harpers Ferry—all topped off by a basement art project with a girl from the poor side of town.

Okay, the first thing that I wasn't expecting was that this book was made up of short stories. I was in a stage of first confusion, but than with me continue reading I came to an understanding. Of which I enjoyed.

The author was able to make Jason, a vivid character, and was able through words to make his being stand out. Especially,in the lifestyle that he currently presides in.

Jason, throughout this book, understands hard truths through the many imperfections of other people. From learning the actual reality, he becomes a strong man. I have a strong self-assurance that he will make it through life.

I enjoyed the different short stories, and I believe that this book, brings about a different perspective to the world of books. This book gave me a message that reality isn't always something someone would look for. I recommend these short stories that are complied together in one book, should be read.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Slide

Title: Slide
Author: Jill Hathaway
Publisher: Harper Collins
Release Date: March 27, 2012
Book: Netgalley

Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.

Sliding! If I could ever do that, I would have so much fun. I would want to slide into some of my friends and mess around with them. I could think of so many things to do right now. However, if I slid into a person and witnessed a murder take place right before my eyes. I would scream!

Vee, a girl who everyone thinks has narcoleptic, is a strong girl that goes through so much throughout this book. I really don't know how she can pull it through. Some things she does miss, espicially the guy that clearly likes her. However, its okay every girl misses the small things sometimes.

The plot for me was intense. The idea of how one girl, out of the blue, slides into a persons body and can see what they are seeing. Than when sliding into a person one night, she witnesses a murder. This book was intense, and I absolutely enjoyed it.

So for all those readers out there who are looking for an awesome book to read. Check this one out. Literally! One you start reading you will slide yourself into its pages. Filled with action, adventure, romance, some violence (not much).

I give this book 5 souls!

Review: Anna Dressed in Blood

Title: Anna Dressed in Blood
Author: Kendare  Blake
Publisher: Tor Teen
Release Date: August 30, 2011
Book: Given by Publisher

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

I haven't had the chance to read a ghost book for a while now and when I first looked at this book, I knew instantly I was going to love this book. I literally had a blanket wrapped around me when reading this book, not knowing if I was going to be scared or not.

I liked how the plot line was how one guy going out to kill a ghost who in the end spares his life. I was held back by that, like first girl you rip apart someone and than you let some other guy that wants to kill you go. That is one messed up girl.  That would be really weird if they fall in love. Just saying!

This book for me was a captivating story that contained action, adventure, love, violence. Lots of violence. However, it wouldn't be a good ghost story without some. I really recommend that readers check this book out because you won't be left hanging. Well maybe in the end but that's why its a series.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: New Girl

Title: New Girl
Author: Paige Harbison
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: January 31, 2012
Book: Netgalley

It's hard to be the new girl--especially when she's filling the spot at an exclusive boarding school that was formerly held by perfect Becca, the girl everyone loved. Becca--the girl who disappeared, and who may or may not be really gone. Original.

Okay, after reading the first couple of I thought I was in high school again. The rude awakening that was given to the new girl Manderly was a real shocker. I knew this book was going to be a good read.

The plot was something I really enjoyed. The way that the chapters switched from the new girl to the old girl was intriguing and captivating. And of the course the boy drama that each girl had was just crazy.

I like it in the end how Manderly is able to create strong friends. And ever though Manderly and Becca are some what alike, they are completely different in their own ways.

This book is a book I would recommend to readers. I found it very intriguing and compelling.

Review: The Stuttering Tattoo

Title: The Stuttering Tattoo
Author: Greg Logsted
Publisher: TKA Distribution
Release Date: December 11, 2011
Book: Netgalley

Steven Bishop is extraordinarily ordinary. He goes to school. He rides his motorcycle. He stutters. His best friend is a former Colombian cartel hit man turned cook/construction worker. You know, ordinary. All that changes the day Becky Moore walks into his classroom. Becky is dazzling, enigmatic.

One day Steven gives Becky a ride home on his motorcycle. There, they discover a severed arm, one of the fingers of which still has an unusual ring attached: a circle, in the middle of which is a heart, at the center of which is a bold number 37. While comforting Becky, Steven discovers a tattoo at the base of her neck: it is the same symbol. And so begins a thrilling descent into a world of crime and murder, a ride wilder than any Steven has taken before.

A simple kid. A kid with both a motorcycle and stuttering problems. However, this simple kids life is about to change for the good and bad when a so called average girl walks in. From that point on his life will not be the same. Will he be able to go on or will he caught in this current of mystery and fail to escape.

What I loved about the plot was the whole mystery about this book. Making love with a new girl and than finding an arm in the back yard being mauled by the dog. This happens to any normal family. NOT! I knew right when I read that part, this book was going to be a book I wouldn't forget.

Filled with action, mystery, a lot of weirdness. This book is a book I would recommend to any reader.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Burned

Title: Burned
Author: P.C. Cast & Kirsten Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: April 27, 2010
Book: Bought

Things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird's soul has shattered. With everything she's ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey's fading fast. It's seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to get to her. But how? He will have to die to do so, the Vampyre High Council stipulates. And then Zoey will give up for sure. There are only 7 days left.

Enter BFF Stevie Rae. She wants to help Z but she has massive problems of her own. The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up, and this time not even Stevie Rae can protect them from the consequences. Her kinda boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy for his own good. The truth is, Stevie Rae's hiding a secret that might be the key to getting Zoey home - but also threatens to explode her whole world.

In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite:
ex-Fledgling, trust-fund baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it). She's always been blessed (if you could call it that) with visions that can reveal the future, but now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her with the goddess's own voice, whether she wants it or not. Aphrodite's loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey's fate hangs in the balance.

Three girls...playing with fire...if they don't watch out, everyone will get Burned.

This series is back on for me. I don't know what happened but something did and I am glad. I feel bad for Zoey right now and what happened in the last book was an eye opening for everyone. Enough of an eye opener to break Zoey's soul.

This book mainly focuses on rescuing Zoey and the only person that is capable of doing that is Stark. Also this book focused on the other characters as well. Stevie Rae, is holding a secret that can both help Zoey but can also hurt her. What I learn from this book is that so many people are keeping secrets, and sooner or later these secrets will be let out and it won't end in a good way.

This book however is back on my good list and I am hoping that whatever book comes next it will continue what this book brought to me. I want to recommend this book in this series to the readers, because I thought it was the best one so far. This book still contains sex, drugs, and I am still unsure if teens should read this series or book for that matter.

I give this book 4 souls!

Review: Tempted

Title: Tempted
Author: P.C. Cast & Kirsten Cast
Publisher: St. Martins Griffin
Release Date: October 23, 2009
Book: Bought

Zoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn't feature breaks on its curriculum - even for a High Priestess in training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he's sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa's tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure - but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She's not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey doesn't go to Kalona he'll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what's necessary, or everything that's important to her will be destroyed.

Zoey. I feel like your not listening to anyone since once again you are stuck again in this triangle. I really don't know as a reader how to get the message across to you that what you are doing is good, and you really need to change it.

Zoey's friends, really I know that your just being nice; seriously leave Zoey. You guys are really great but you are making the same mistakes as Zoey. Not as drastically but almost to that point.

Its really hard for me to recommend this book to someone. However, if you love major drama, this book may be for you. This book contains sex, drugs, ect. I wouldn't recommend this to teenagers.

I give this book 3 souls!

Review: Hunted

Title: Hunted
Author: P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: March 10, 2009
Book: Bought

What if the hottest guy in the world was hiding a nameless evil, and all he wanted was you?
At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey’s friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren’t Neferet’s secrets any longer.  But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses.  Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn’t want to hear and truths she can’t face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa’s Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down.  Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems.  The red fledglings have cleaned up well – they’ve even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home – but are they really as friendly as they seem?  On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Erik, but she can’t stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet’s sinister influence at all costs.  Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?
Words are usually written to describe things best. However, my words for this book, I don't think they would be appropriate to describe the feelings I have for Zoey. Again, the same stuff is happening and once again nobody is learning from there mistakes. Zoe is still in that love triangle with Heath and Erik. Really guys, be smart and dump her.

I won't say that this book is written horribly but the repetitiveness is getting way past the expiration date. I think as a reader, I am expecting the characters to grow and different things to happen. However, this book is making teenagers sound really bad on there reputation. I am really happy to say that the kids that I went to school with, were way smarter than that.

I don't know if I would recommend this book too readers. However, if you like people not learning from there mistakes and this constantly repeating themselves. By all means, go check this series out. This series is not the series for me.

I give this book 3 souls!

Book: Bought

Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you. Just ask Zoey Redbird – she’s become an expert on suckiness. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a close group of friends who trusted and supported her, to being an outcast. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead and unMarked. And Neferet has declared war on humans, which Zoey knows in her heart is wrong. But will anyone listen to her?  Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light, and an ancient evil is awakened in

Zoey. Zoey. Zoey. What has happened to you? I wish I could say I am on your side but with the way that you go around treating the people that care about you. Also with you making out with every guy. Is this some kissing contest? Zoey, I know you are a strong, beautiful girl, but seriously pull yourself together.

With each new book that I read, the plots and drama increases. This is one thing I can look forward to reading this series. However, the repetitiveness is getting a little annoying. I don't understand how people can keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I don't feel like the characters are growing. They are making the same mistakes and I don't know what to think of them. I don't think they are (excuse my language) stupid. However, seriously.

This book contains sex, drugs, and everything a teenager should stay away from.

Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird’s adventures at the school take a mysterious turn.  Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies.  And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends.

Zoey is losing respect for me as a person. I take that back, I'm losing respect for the decisions that she is making. One she has the guy, Erik but no she rather go run off with another guy. Really Zoey. I really am having seconds thoughts of whether Zoey should be the so call role model for everyone. Because I don't see her as one.

With that being said, I don't see either of her friends stepping up to take that role either. With this series, they are continuously making the same mistakes, over and over again. There is no sign for them learning from their mistakes.

This book contains the same love, sex, drugs, and all the drama that teenagers should not associate themselves with. This book was fast paced, but there is need for more character development. In the sense that they need to learn from their mistakes.

Book: Bought

Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

This book picks up right where it leaves off with Zoey trying to find her place at the House of Night. When reading this book, I was reliving high school. With all the drama that goes on with the girls in this book was driving me crazy. I have never experienced so much drama in such a long time. I am sorry to say but these girls over and over again call each other "sluts" and its just getting tiring.

Zoey, you area great girl and I believe in almost everything that you do. However, just pick a guy already. Stop trying every guys lips and pick someone. With your actions that are presented through this book, you lose my respect for a girl. I am sorry to say, but you are a girl that is just looking to get in bed with a guy.

This book did have excitement and I kept wanting to turn the pages but I wouldn't say that this is the book for me. I still encourage readers to check this series out because they might have different taste than me.

I give this 3 souls!

Review: The Priest and the Peaches

Title: The Priest and the Peaches
Author: Larry Peterson
Publisher: Tribute Books
Release Date: December 21, 2011
Book: Given to by Publisher

Take a seven day journey with the five, newly orphaned Peach kids, as they begin their struggle to remain a family while planning their dad's funeral.

They find an ally in the local parish priest, Father Tim Sullivan, who tries his best to guide them through the strange, unchartered and turbulent waters of "grown-up world." A story that is sad, funny, and inspiring as it shows how the power of family love and faith can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

I felt kinda of depressed when I first started reading this book. At first with the grandmother dying, and than the dad. The thought that passed through my head was, who was going to die next.

This book I found as an inspiration because of what these five children and how they come together when times are down. This book does not only have the sad parts but funny parts that make this story an emotional one.

This family goes through a lot but together they were able to overcome many obstacles. I couldn't imagine what theses children go through. I hope I never do. However, these children are so special because they go through everything to stay together as a family.

Overall this book should be a must read for every one. Filled with inspiration dripping through its pages. I wasn't disappointed and neither will you be.

I give this book 4 souls!
